SOCIAL EVENTS |
|
Straight
from "Jan" - PCA National '08 Show Chair... |
Our social committee plans to
have many fun events, such as a welcome cocktail party, tea
party, a wine and cheese event,
an ice cream social, and a special function featuring "Papitinis"
and a beautifully decorated butterfly cake. A Papitini is a
martini specially created for our annual specialty.
Of course the highlight of our
social calendar will be the Banquet which will feature a
celebrity auction. We are closing in on having a special
personality to make the auction a success. The search is on for
unique items that will prompt banquet attendees to want to
participate in what promises to be a memorable event.
We are asking everyone to hunt
through their personal Papillon or butterfly possessions, or to
purchase items that will be of interest to all. Some examples
can include: tapestries or throws, china, paintings or prints,
china, table linens, and of course jewelry! Thanks in advance to
everyone who wishes to participate to make the 2008 National
Specialty a fun time for all.

Come
to our Ice Cream Social
(and don't forget to wear your butterflies) |
Mark
your calendars, because on April 22 from 7 to 9pm you are
invited to the National Specialty Welcome Party in the Terrace
Courtyard of the Frederick Holiday Inn and Conference Center. Metropolitan
Area Papillon Club of Washington DC is sponsoring an Olde
Fashioned Ice Cream Social. To get into the spirit, we
are asking everyone to wear something butterfly related to
this fun event. Yes gentlemen, butterfly ties or
suspenders would help you make a grand entrance. Our
female participants have more clothing or accessory options
from which to choose. So let your imaginations run wild
as you join us to celebrate the kick-off to a memorable
week!

Thursday 4/24/08 Lunch break, |
|
Sha Sha 'Couture' |
At lunch on Thursday, Sha Sha 'Couture and Astra Publishers will
provide the entertainment with a fashion show
entitled What The Well
Dressed Papillon is Wearing.
Some of the one-of-a-kind fashion costumes will
be just for the show. Others will be available at the Sha Sha
'Couture table. The six models (and their handlers) will display
their outfits along a covered walk, along the isles, over the
stage, and among the tables in Garden Courtyard.
If you thought that Papillons were members of
only the TOY group, wait until you see the outfits of the
WORKING group of Papillons as they participate in a Pirate
festival or put on a Beauty Pageant! Most doggie fashion shows
end with a bridal scene. This one begins with one, (part of the
groom's outfit came all the way from Norway), and the outfits
just keep on getting more elaborate! You won't want to miss
this fun event!!

A study of the Phalene

Everyone
is invited to join the Phalene fanciers as we present a special
edition of judges’ education.
We
will have a committee of judges/breeders evaluate our drop-ear
exhibits and help everyone understand the finer points of ear
carriage as well as general type and structure.
Try
your hand at judging and see how you measure up to our panel of
experts.
All
exhibitors and judge attendees will receive a commemorative pin
and be entered into a drawing for special prizes.
Come
join us for some fun and education as we celebrate the Phalene
variety!
Cash Bar and Snacks provided courtesy
of the Phalene fanciers.
