Papillon Genetic Seminar

Dr. Bell will present a 3 hour genetic
health seminar May 6, 2010.
The seminar will be in two parts. The first will discuss
genetic diversity and pedigree analysis of influential
Papillon dogs and bitches. How the selection of mates and
types of matings manipulates the genes of ancestors in the
pedigree. The popular sire syndrome and discussion of the
Phalene in regards to breeding for the drop ears.
After a break, the second portion will deal with genetic
disorders: Neuroaxonal Dystrophy, and an unusual diagnosis
of a Papillon with Chiari Malformation CM/SM. His topics
will include the current research that PCA is conducting
with Michigan State University in locating the marker for
PRA and the research that we support for the work of Dr.
Center that involves Portosystemic Vascular Anomalies and
Microvascular Dysplasia.
There will be question/answer periods in both sessions. |

The Judges Education Seminar is a 90 minute presentation
that includes history, form and function of the breed, and
in-depth consideration of the Standard.
The Hand-on Workshop is for Judges only. All class winners
will be invited to participate as well as Best and Best
Opposite in Sweepstakes.
Ringside mentoring for Judges will be held on May 6, 7,
and 8.
The Seminar is open to anyone. Room seating will be on a
first come, first served basis with judges being given
priority seating. Every effort will be made to accommodate
all who sign up for the Seminar.
