Starheir’s Crown Jewel - "
Julie "

Julie
was the first
bitch to win the
coveted Best in
Show award in
the United
States.
She
was the most
outgoing, happy
and enthusiastic
show dog
Lorraine had
ever
known.
She loved
to travel, to
play with their
grandchildren
and to live in
retirement
with Lou and
Lorraine
(Smith).
Lou often
said that he
felt like Julie
looked him over
and then decided
he could live
here with them !

|
Her
death on October 25,
1986, just three months
prior to her eighteenth
birthday, found both
Lorraine and Lou in
their car
outside the vet’s
office in tears, unable
to move for a very long
time.
Julie’s
record includes :
|
| 1971 |

She was a puppy
champion, like her sire,
finishing at eight
months, twenty-six days.
When she ended
her brilliant career she
had a total of six Best
in Show awards (a record
that still stands in
2004 for bitches).
Those who piloted
her to her BIS wins
were Lisa Arwood, Parker
Harris and Tom Glassford.
She was BOB at
Westminster in 1972.
Julie also won
the National
Specialty in 1973 under
Arlene Czech and went on
to Toy Group First under
Gus Wolf.
Sadly for the breed,
Julie never produced a
litter.
