his breeder he soon
began a ‘specials’
career.
In the capable hands of
John Oulton,
they promptly became a
team.
Together
they would break old
records, set new ones
and introduce the world
to this vibrant,
outgoing, show-loving
Papillon.
Anne Rogers
Clark, who had
‘discovered’ so many
great ones, gave Kirby
the nod for his first
Best In Show.
Ed Bivin, long
time judge and
friend to the Papillon
breed, would give Kirby
his first Group One ...
and his last and most
famous Best in Show.
More than just a ‘show
dog’ Kirby and John are
best friends. Even
at age fourteen, if John
is driving to a show
Kirby
accompanies him.
In 2001, at the
Chicago specialty John
and Kirby made an
appearance at a ‘fun’
match ( judging was all
in
fun and the money raised
went to the sponsoring
club ).
Many at ringside
had never seen Kirby in
person and he did not
disappoint them.
This eleven and a
half-year ‘old man’
bounded into the ring
and put on quite a show
for his loyal fans.
When the audience
cheered he turned on all
the more charm and
rewarded everyone with a
display of showmanship
that made
it evident why he is the
top winning Papillon of
all time.
Kirby is the sire of the
Best in Show winning Ch.
Cadaga’s Civil Action,
is a PCA Sire of
Distinction and has
numerous
grandchildren who are
rapidly gaining their
championships.
His show record is that
which will stand for
years, perhaps
generations :
