Entered
in the 1997 National
Specialty in Nevada
where he made the final
cut,
Prince was spotted
by longtime
Papillon exhibitor,
Jan Paulk.
Many phone calls
and
emails later, Tracy
brought Prince to Jan.
His first weekend out
with John Oulton, Prince won the Toy Group
at the
Westchester KC.
The rest, as they
say, is history :
five All-Breed
Best in Shows;
seven Best
in Specialty Shows (
including
the 1998
National Specialty ) ; 28
Group 1, 22 Group 2,
13
Group 3, 12 Group 3; and
106 Best
of Breeds. Prince won or
placed
in the Toy Group
an amazing 75% of the
time.
Prince was
handled by John Oulton
through his National
Specialty win, and then
went back to his
co-breeder, Tracy
Burdick
for his All-Breed Best
in Shows and additional
BISS wins. He was the
recipient of PCA’s
Golden Butterfly and was
top Papillion
all systems in 1998. Prince was in first place for the same honors when he was
retired in June 1999
following a Best in
Show
at the Colorado Springs
KC.
Prince retired from the
confirmation ring as his
owner began her judging
career.
Prince and Jan
live in Santa Fe, NM,
where
he has served as a
therapy dog with the
Santa Fe Animal Shelter
and Humane Society.
In 2001 he was selected
in a New Mexico-wide
competition to appear in
Chekhov’s play, "The
Cherry Orchard" with
Oscar
winning actress Marsha
Mason.
He, of course,
believed that all
applause was for him and
wagged his tail
accordingly.
Jan got her first
(and last) taste of
being a stage-mother !
The Papillon Club of
America has recognized
Ch. Denzel Loteki Crown
Prince as a Sire of
Distinction.
Crown Prince has
excelled as a show dog,
a stud dog, a therapy
dog and most of all, as
a treasured companion.
He has
won numerous friends for
the breed through his
extraordinarily friendly
and sweet temperament.
Prince
exemplifies Will
Rogers’ saying, "I
never met a man I
didn’t like"
