In 2009, I am a wife of
38 years to my high
school sweetheart,
Terry, who is very
tolerant man. I’m lucky
to have him and
his support for the past
35 years in dogs! We
have two grown
daughters, Stephanie and
Danielle and three
grandchildren,
Adam, Trinity and
Sophia. All have been a
great help with the
dogs.
I obtained my first Papillon in July 1978, from Pearl George of Kavar/Kvar
Papillons, CH Kvar
Supernova, a multiple
group
winner and a Sire of
Distinction. Nova was a
dainty, happy little
dog. He was a delightful
first Papillon.
My second Papillon was my foundation bitch, CH Papstedt My Sharonna, CD.
Sharonna completed her
AKC championship
after producing 9
champions at age 6. She
finished with a 5 point
major to her credit. She
went on to produce 3
more
champions, including a
phalene when it was not
the ‘in” thing, unlike
today. Sharonna became
my first Dam of
Distinction.
Nova and Sharonna were
bred two times,
(something I have not
done since when
producing a successful
first litter of live
puppies) producing a
total of 5 champion
offspring. From their
first litter, CH Loteki
Star Trek of Kasway, CD
became my first
homebred champion at 7
months. He also was an
outstanding producer
with a total of 18
champion offspring, his
first 13
puppies all became
champions. Trek also was
multiple group placer.
His full sister from a
later litter, CH Loteki
Autumn Magic,
CD is the all time top
producing bitch of the
breed with 18 champion
offspring. She and her
mother, Sharonna, became
the
first mother/daughter
Dams of Distinction.
Magic’s daughter, CH Loteki Denzel Fortuneteller, a multiple group
winner, produced 14
champion offspring,
becoming the only
third generation Dam of
Distinction. “Gypsy” is
the dam of the world
famous, CH Loteki
Supernatural Being. A
Gypsy’s
daughter, CH Loteki By
Good Fortune, a.k.a.
“Goodie”, produced 10
champion offspring and
one OTCh son out of 13
puppies,
to become the only
fourth generation Dam of
Distinction. Then to go
one step further,
“Goodie’s” daughter, CH
Loteki Oh My
Goodness, has produced
11 champion offspring to
become a FIFTH
generation Dam of
Distinction. These five
bitches
produced a total of 66
Loteki champions!
Loteki Papillons have produced 21 Dams of Merit, 16 Sires of Merit, 8
Dams of Distinction and
9 Sires of Distinction.
Four different Loteki Papillons have won BOB at Westminster. CH Loteki
Supernatural Being won
the group twice at
Westminster, going on to
win Best in Show in
1999, after winning the
World Show in Helsinki,
Finland and the Royal in
Canada
in 1998. In 2000, CH
Loteki Beach Party was
BOB and made the cut in
the toy group, I was on
the end of the lead!
What a rush!!!
Loteki Papillons have won Best Of Breed, HIT, BOW, BOS, WD, WB, Best in
Sweeps, and other awards
at the National
many times over the
years.
Loteki Papillons have also done very well at independent or regional
specialties in the
conformation ring,
obedience, rally,
tracking and agility
rings and have made
their mark as
outstanding obedience,
agility and tracking
participants with many
a 1st credited to Loteki
Papillons and their
owners. There have been
a total of seven OTChs
and five MAChs, many of
them
breed champions also.
I believe that Papillons are ‘Do It All’ dogs, so I breed with this
thought in mind.
Temperament is one of
the first priorities in
my breeding program.
Outgoing, happy dogs
that love life and live
it to its fullest. I do
not and will not use
dogs that are shy
or aggressive.
Temperament is genetic
just as color, ears,
eyes, etc., one must
have good temperament
for any ‘job’,
whether it is the show
ring on just being a
great companion.
Breeding Papillons is my passion. I love planning litters and watching
their promise grow into
beautiful, elegant
examples of
the breed. I love
discussing beautiful
examples of the breed,
watching them in the
ring and most of all
watching them at play.
Each day begins by
awaking to wagging tails
and dark eyes looking at
me, as I open my eyes.
There is no better way
to start
the day in my mind!
My favorite class is the Bred-by Exhibitor. I make every effort to finish
as many Loteki Papillons
as possible from the
BBE class. I have
received both the silver
and the gold AKC
medallions for dogs that
have completed their
titles totally
from the BBE class.
My husband and I took our first ever week long vacation in 2001 to attend
the first AKC/Eukanuba
in Orlando. I entered
littermates, CH Loteki
Her Royal Highness and
CH Loteki Royal Heir. I
showed Her Royal
Highness to BOB and Best
BBE!
What a thrill. Royal
Heir was shown by a good
friend and won an AOM!
I have worn many hats in dog clubs to which I belong. I have served as
newsletter editor for
the two all-breed clubs
I
belonged to as well as
for the Greater
Chicagoland Papillon
Club (GCPC). I also have
served GCPC as a board
member,
the secretary and many
times as trophy chair
for their specialty.
I have also served the Papillon Club of America in many positions,
nominating committee,
regional columnist
reporter for
Pap Talk, and on
Reflections. I also
served as the trophy
chair for the 1988 and
2009 National
Specialties. I served on
the
Awards committee for 14
years, rewrote the SR
and also served as the
chair for 5 years until
the committee was
dissolved.
During this time one had
to go through the AKC
Awards page by page,
show by show, and tally
points for all 12 issues
of that
tiny, tiny print on
newsprint paper. Now one
only has to pay the fee
to AKC to get those same
numbers!
I created, funded and marketed the first commerative t-shirt for the 1988
National and again in
1989.
From 2007- 2009, I served as PCA’s Treasurer. It is a very detailed job
that demands a lot of
time and requires a very
high level
of commitment. I also
was a member of the
Educational Production
Committee that revamped
the tri-fold handout
that is used
for education of the
public about our breed,
an insert for Papillon
AKC registrations and
other PCA publications.
I have worked on a fabulous Judge’s Education presentation that of which
I am very proud. It was
something that our breed
never had and I think it
is the best possible
method for educating
everyone on the
beautiful, elegant breed
that I love….
the Papillon! I truly
enjoy discussing what I
believe are the
important details of our
breed with both those
newly come to our
sport and with those who
have been involved for
years.
I am also the President of an infant club, Papillon Club of Iowa. In
January 2009 we received
notification from AKC
that we
have been officially
recognized. I also am
serving as the treasurer
for the PCARescue Trust,
which is a non-profit
charitable
organization devoted to
those Papillons that are
less fortunate, helping
to rehabilitate, and
find forever homes.
I am currently enjoying my grandchildren, my children, my husband, my
wonderful dogs, and all
the blessings of my
life.
Thank you for being
honored as an Honorary
Lifetime Member of the
Papillon Club of
America.
