After
deciding that the
Papillon was the ONLY
toy breed that Jan would
consider owning, she
searched for more than a
year
to
find a breeder who would
part with a
show/breeding quality
bitch.
Jan had two
Dobermans and a wire fox
terrier at the time
and found it difficult
to convince a breeder to
let her have a Pap.
Fortunately, Mary
Spector/Viktoria
Papillons, was willing
to
take a chance and in
1978 she acquired a cute
little tri-color bitch
that she named Lilly.
Lilly became her first
champion as
well
as her first UD.
During the next
26 years, she finished
eight more champions in
addition to 15 obedience
titles, including
a
Champion/UDX/Can. UD
with Savoy Love Potion
Number Nine. About 9
years ago, she started
in agility and has now
earned
more than 100 agility
titles with five
different Papillons.
Jan served PCA for many
years in different
capacities.
She was Recording
Secretary for one term
and board director for
another term. She was a Pap Talk columnist, 1991 Standard Revision
Committee member, and
obedience results
tabulator
for
many years.
Additionally, she is
active in the "Papillon scene" in
her local area.
An active show
and obedience
competitor, she was
also
a
founding member of the
Patriot Papillon Club
and the local contact
for Papillon rescue. She continues to get phone calls
to
this day from her early
work in Papillon rescue.
With a limited breeding
program, many Savoy
Papillons went on to
earn championships,
obedience and agility
titles. Most
noteworthy is the
red/white bitch trained
by owner/handler Diane
Smart: Am & Can
Champion, AM & Can
OTCH, MACH5
Savoy
Fast Forward, UDX, TD,
better known as Tempo.
Jan says, "Thanks
to this wonderful breed,
I have friends all over
the USA and Canada as
well as in foreign
countries.
There
is no other breed as
beautiful, bright and
talented as the Papillon
in my estimation! "
