OFA - Orthopedic Foundation for Animals

( Menu : REPORTS )

OFA QUARTERLY REPORT : 07.21.2011

Click here to open the latest OFA report ( pdf )

You will find the most recent OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) reports of testing

done on Papillons.  This includes Cardiac, Patella, Heart, and in some instances Hip.
These test results are kept by OFA indefinitely and are reports for the current year.
They are listed by their test numbers not the name of the dog or owner.

Keep in mind that once a dog/bitch receives an OFA number for Patella , Heart and a CERF

number for the eyes, the dog will automatically receive a CHIC number which is recorded on

the dogs permanent AKC registration. There is no charge for subsequent testing's so later

tests will be also part of the permanent record. OFA keeps the CERF numbers in their

records as part of their registry but they do not charge extra for this recording.

FACTS ABOUT PROGRESSIVE RETINAL ATROPHY ( PRA ) By Leona Domino

PRA is a general term for a number of eye diseases.

These diseases have included certain features. One is that the diseases begin at a very specific time in each breed. The diseases progress at a very predictable rate. The dogs

that are affected with the disease become blind at an age very specific to the breed.

Some become blind early, some late. The end result is blindness. Click to read more ...
