About the Author
Thomas K. Graves received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from
Cornell University in 1991. He completed an internship in small animal medicine
and surgery at The Ohio State University, and a residency in small animal
internal medicine at Michigan State University. He obtained a PhD degree from
the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2002, and is
currently an assistant professor of internal medicine at the College of
Veterinary Medicine of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr.
Graves is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine,
board-certified in small animal internal medicine. He is the author of numerous
journal articles and textbook chapters on diseases of companion animals, and is
a frequent lecturer at universities and continuing education meetings throughout
the United States and in Europe. A breeder/exhibitor and judge of Pekingese
dogs, Dr. Graves was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pekingese Club of
America in 1992. He has been chair of the club's Health Committee since its
inception in 1995, and is a founding director of the Pekingese Charitable
Foundation, Inc.
