tiny butterfly  Is a Papillon Right for You?
How much do you know about Papillons? Of course they're very pretty. They are small, elegant, happy little dogs and are known for their intelligence. But what does that really mean?
tiny butterfly  Possible Sources for your Papillon
A Rescue dog deserves to be adopted because that's what you want, not because that's what you'll settle for if you can't get what you want. If you've come to Rescue because you're at a loss for finding other sources for your dreamed-of pup, the information in this FAQ might help.

Adoption Cost

PCA Rescue requires a fee for adoption of almost all our rescued dogs. For your convenience PCAR can accept money orders, cashier or bank chacks, and Paypal.  The proceeds generated by this policy are used, along with other donations and our active fundraising to ensure our organization remains able to take in any needy Papillon. In addition to loving foster care, we provide each dog with medical treatment including alteration, shots, heartworm testing, patella evaluation and dental care, etc. We appreciate your support of this policy.

The following table may be used for a guide to determine the potential adoption fee:

For healthy dogs up to two years of age: $350-$450
For healthy dogs between the ages of two and six:$ 250-$350
For healthy dogs between the ages of six and nine: $150-$250
Geriatric or "special needs" dogs: donation is set on a case-by-case basis

Shipping costs or travel costs to obtain your Papillon will be the responsibility of the adopter. We have limited capability to move dogs around the country, and will work to assist wherever we can. Please keep in mind some dogs are simply not good candidates for shipping.

Donations and payments made to PCA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes.

Adoption Process
Are you ready now? Submit your application by using the link below or the one on the front page of our website. You will receive verification that your application has been accepted. This does not mean you have been approved for adoption. Your application still has to be selected from our database. Please respond indicating your interest in a specific dog. If the information on your application and the dog's requirements appear to be a match, we will contact you. Our regional or state facilitator will be happy to address any further questions you have and will help the foster home to determine if you are a good match.

We check references and a home visit will have to be done. Please examine the biography on any dog that interests you very carefully. We spend a great deal of time assessing the needs of these dogs, and our requirements are generally non-negotiable.

Occasionally, a dog in our care is considered suitable for shipping (at the adopter's expense). However, if your interest is in a specific dog not geographically close to you, you'll want to consider how you might go about getting the dog to you.

Please be aware we have many more applications than available dogs. We are a volunteer organization and although we appreciate your desire to add a papillon to your home, we cannot possibly answer each and every application personally.

Adoption of a rescued papillon is a process. It often takes time. Our successful placement rate is high. Trust us and work with us it will be well worth the wait.
