Wendy
LOCATION: MISSOURI
AGE: 4 YEARS
WEIGHT: 11 LBS.
I am Wendy's foster Mom and she is too nervous right now to speak for herself. So, I will describe Wendy first
and hopefully, she will feel like jumping in later.
Wendy is 4 years old, approx. 11 lbs and is current on all her shots. She had a recent dental cleaning, has
been spade, and was given a clean bill of health. She does have a tendency to have constipation, which can
result in some pain, but we have found that giving her 1 tsp of pumpkin once a day in her food prevents that.
Wendy was rescued from a Puppy Mill, and it is not known if she was physically abused, however, her behavior
indicates that at the very least she was neglected without much loving human contact. She does have a fear
of men (exhibited by jumping away from them, barking from her comfort zone, and shaking if approached).
I believe this will cease with time and patience. Wendy has not exhibited any type of aggressive behavior
(i.e. snapping, biting), but will run away until a trusting relationship has been built. This includes
outside as well as inside, so a fence is a must for Wendy. She will do her business outside if taken out
at intervals, but has not quite caught on yet with going to the door to let you know. . She does not have
accidents in the house as long as she is taken out. Wendy is a little girl who needs much patience and
love to help her understand how the world works. Every day, we see more excitement, tail wagging and
joy in her face when she realizes she has woken up to another day of not having to be afraid. Wendy
has caught on quickly to certain commands as long as her day is based on a schedule. Wendy is not
interested in other animals at all, and will do best in a home that only has 1 other pet or none at all.
Due to her insecurities, she will be best with older children only.
"Hey foster Mommy, I am ready now". Oh, looks like Wendy would like to speak now.
Hi, my foster Mommy is correct, I am very, very timid of humans. But, I have to say, after having been
here for the past 3 months, I am thinking there is a world out there that I really, really like.
Thanks to my foster home, there are times when I know what it feels like to be a carefree, worry-free
doggie and I love it!!! I sleep in what is called a human bed, hang on the couch with my foster mommy
and got a say "love it, love it". They keep giving me some type of object called a toy, but can't say
I am catching on to that quite yet. I understand my business needs to be done outside, but need a bit
of assistance in getting out there. Oh, and this leash/collar thing they put on me (a little scared at
first), but once I am walking-"love it, love it". However, there are times when a huge, huge sound comes
from outside and I am scared to death. What is that again, foster Mommy?
Oh, that is thunder, and yes Wendy is extremely afraid of thunder. The best approach so far, has been
cradling her in a blanket and holding her. She will continue to shake and drool, but it will pass.
Wendy is going to be a very loving, loyal dog. Due to her history, she will require someone who is
gentle, loving, patient, and accepting of the small little rewards she gives, such as wagging her tail.
Wendy is not yet to the point where she will approach you for love and affection but loves praise and so
much wants to please. Hopefully, you are the home that will take this little girl, and show her what the
world was meant to be for someone has precious as her.
