Toby

LOCATION: MINNESOTA
AGE: 5 years old
SIZE: 12 Pounds

Hi, my name is Toby, and the first thing that people say when they see me is that I look like I have a little mask on my face. People also say that I have a very lush coat, in three colors, no less! I am a little short for my weight, but my build is kind of cobby, not fat at all.

Do you like the same things that I like? I am the best tennis ball catcher, and I will return the ball to you for you to throw it again. I like chew toys like Booda balls stuffed with a little treat. I am a little unusual in that if you turn the garden hose on a light mist and lay it down, I play in the water and can put on quite a show for you!

I will go into my crate at night and sleep quiet all night. When you come to get me in the morning, my whole body wags with joy to see you.

If you need to type on the computer, or watch TV, I am the coziest little blanket…well,I'm really a dog, but I feel like a blanket!

I like to ride in the car, and I also love a walk, just like any dog. If we meet strangers, I will not bark in an irritating manner. If someone is coming to your house, I will bark just enough to alert you. This is a handy thing, since I have those great dog ears, I am a little watch dog. I have a rather manly low-pitched bark for a small dog, if I do say so myself!

I have had 2 homes in the past. The first one I lived at for about a year, and then had to leave because of allergies; theirs, not mine. The second home I lived at about 4 years, and I left because there were issues between myself and the other male dog in the house that could not be resolved.

Having said that, I want to say that I am not an aggressive dog at all. The problem was that because we did not get along, we would both mark in the kitchen sometimes-a territory thing, and maybe because of stress too.

Here is the good news, I have been in my foster home for over a month, and I am not doing this marking thing at all. Never did since I walked in . I think I’ll leave it to foster mom now, to explain a bit more.

Toby is the best foster dog ever, a real heartbreaker. The chemistry between the dogs here must be different than in his former home. I have one male Papillon, very playful, just over a year, confident, but not at all dominant. I understand that Toby’s former brother could be moody, and was not as active or playful as Toby. Toby loves toys, and the game of “let’s chase each other”.

Ever since Toby came to us, I have been pondering what kind of home would be a great home for him. I think he would enjoy a young, small dog that would have enough energy to play with him and likes toys and company as much as he does. I believe he would also do well as a single dog. He would do best with someone that is at home all day most days. He loves kids, but can be frightened by them, so a home with older kids would be best.

There is a lot more I am anxious to tell you about Toby, he is a true companion, and he is a lover. Please click on the Adopt Me button at the right, and when you fill out an application, I will contact you.
