Bubba

LOCATION: KANSAS
AGE: 6.5 years
WEIGHT: 4.5 lbs.

This is Bubba. Bubba came to PCA rescue through another rescue group that w
as not able to take him in. When we picked him up, he was very dirty, extremely smelly and his coat was stained and matted. It was so bad that a mere bath was not going to be enough so off he went to a professional groomer. The groomer found that he was matted all the way to his skin and the only remedy was to shave him!

Once he was shaved down and bathed, we found wounds on his back that looked like puncture wounds - most likely from a larger dog. A few days later when he went for his neuter, the attending vet agreed.

Bubba was a different dog when he came home from the grooming shop. He didn’t look anything like the dog that had been dropped off that morning. He was spunky and seemed so much happier. He ran around and seemed to feel young and full of life again! Amazing what a good bath and some attention will do! You can see the difference in his appearance in the before and after pictures we have included.

In the beginning Bubba did quite a lot of ferocious growling at the resident dogs and his foster mom when she touched him in certain places. Never in all that growling did he ever attempt to bite. The growling has decreased tremendously as his trust in humans and other dogs has developed.

Bubba needs someone who will give him lots of patience, time, attention and most of all, love. He likes to be picked up, but is only comfortable being held with his feet braced against your chest as he hangs on to your shoulder with his front legs.

He is not completely house trained but we are working on it. He wears a belly band and doesn’t seem to mind it at all. He loves to eat, but hasn't gained much more than his original 4 pounds. He is being spoiled with lots of treats in his foster home and has come to expect them often. He is very easy to have around, but will howl if you leave the room and he can't follow.

This little guy is looking for his “person” to love him, spoil him, give him treats and in return, you will have a friend for life!
